The RC4 represents a truly full-range speaker that leaves nothing to be desired and competes with other
systems selling for 4-5x the cost. Each driver was selected to give the maximum performance possible.
Operating as a 4-way speaker, the drivers include a powered 12" side-mounted subwoofer, dual 8" woofers,
a 5" midbass, and ribbon tweeter. Each driver is operated in a very linear fashion to keep distortion low and maintain smooth
vertical and horizontal coverage.
To cover the critical midrange area we chose the Seas Excel 5" magnesium cone midbass. The stiff cone
yields amazing detail and allows a higher crossover point to optimize the tweeter's operating range. The lower midrange
and upper bass are handled by two Seas 8" Excel magnesium cone woofers. Why two drivers? The cone area is equal to a 12" woofer
so a great deal of air can be moved for exceptional dynamics without sacrificing speed and detail.
The bottom octave is anchored by a Peerless 12" XXLS subwoofer powered by a 500-watt amplifier. The included
active crossover is designed to smoothly integrate with the 8" woofers.
The top octaves are handled by a Fountek CD3.0 ribbon tweeter. The ribbon has very smooth and extended
response with excellent detail.
If you already have a subwoofer the RC4's design can be modified to operate as a sealed box with no side-firing
