The MF7 is dedicated in memory of Maynard Ferguson. As a young trumpet player becoming interested in jazz
I was heavily influenced by Maynard. He was not only a consumate musician and band leader but also an educator who mentored
many of us over his long career.
Based on a 7" coincident Seas of Norway driver (the tweeter is mounted in the center of the woofer)
the MF7 radiates sound evenly in both the vertical and horizontal planes. This makes it ideal for center channel and surround
use; in addition, it performs well as a small monitor for 2-channel systems.
The port is mounted on the front which enables you to place the speaker close to the rear wall if desired.
We can customize the crossover for optimal performance - just let us know where you plan to place the speaker. The crossover
consists of high quality components not often common for a speaker in this price range. All capacitors are film material -
no cheap electrolytics. Inductors are air core coils - no low $ small iron core parts that many other companies use to save
pennies.
The cabinets are veneered with real wood on all sides (no vinyl). Available finishes are maple,
cherry, and black ash. The construction is solid with a 1" thick front baffle and 3/4" sides. We also line the inside walls
with composite damping sheets to lower cabinet coloration even further.
Please note - we use the same cabinet and drivers as the Seas Loki design; however, our crossover is quite
different.
