Virtually everything on our site can be furnished in kit form. In some instances we can modify the cabinet design to
make it easier for you to build. That means a simple rectangular cabinet without any complex angles or curved panels. Many
of our designs can also be built with cabinets available from Madisound or Parts Express and we can provide them with pre-cut
baffles.
Here's a FAQ list of questions that are common from DIY audiophiles:
Do cabinets come with your kits?
The prices listed do not include cabinets but we can supply them upon request for the RC3R, Tanzanite, 35F,
Sardonyx, SA-2, 35CC, Hiddenite, S6, Trio, and SSR. These are pre-finished and all you need to do is cut
the openings for the drivers and ports (where applicable), add the drivers, and install the crossovers / damping material.
In some cases you'll need to cut and install additional bracing for the enclosure. The baffles are glued and screwed to the
main cabinet so final assembly is very easy. For an additional charge we can cut the baffles for you - feel free
to ask for a quote.
What's included with the kit?
Drivers, assembled crossovers (with internal wiring), connectors, terminal cups / binding posts, gasket tape, screws, cabinet
plans, and shipping costs. The ported designs also come with port tubes and foam sheets (Sonic Barrier optional for floorstanding
designs) for internal damping. We also provide free unlimited support via email or phone.
What's the difference between the standard and deluxe crossovers?
Our standard crossovers include polypropylene capacitors, Mundorf metal oxide resistors, air core inductors,
and steel laminate 15awg inductors. While we call these "standard" parts, they actually are better than most commercial speaker
crossovers. The deluxe crossovers use Clarity Cap, Auricap, KimberKap, or Mundorf capacitors in the tweeter
and midrange sections. In some of the 3-way designs these are also implemented in the woofer portion of the
crossover. The inductors are Goertz 16awg copper foil coils in places where the d.c. resistance is acceptable
to maintain the optimal transfer function of the driver response. All resistors in the deluxe crossovers are Mills MRA-12
1% tolerance parts.
Upon request we can implement specific brands of parts; however, the design may not allow for specific components because
of circuit optimization and /or space constraints. We can advise you concerning what will work best for your system.
