In an effort to bring high performance audio to a wider audience we introduce the very affordable Hiddenite. Our
design focus was to provide a compact speaker that could be used full-range in smaller rooms where it would typically be placed
close to the rear wall or in larger rooms away from the wall and combined with a subwoofer. You can also utilize the
Hiddenite for surround speakers or even as a center channel (if placed upright).
We chose a woofer that would offer good bass extension and output capability while preserving critical midrange quality.
The stiff aluminum cone and low distortion motor design helped us reach these goals.
For the tweeter we selected a unit that was recently introduced by Seas of Norway. This is a unique design that combines
the best qualities of a 3/4" dome (wide top octave dispersion) and a 1" dome (lower crossover point). The metal
dome is suspended by a wide surround that gives it critical damping to minimize the resonance peaks that are common to many
metal dome units. The result is good detail without being too bright or harsh sounding like other tweeters.
Inside the cabinet we paid attention to details often missed by others. A cross brace stiffens the enclosure (1" thick
MDF baffle and 3/4" MDF on all other sides) to reduce colorations created from wall vibration. The crossover is
optimized with good quality components. All inductors are air core coils and all capacitors are Solen polypropylene -
parts not often found in a speaker this low in cost.
The outside is finished with a real wood veneers (not cheap vinyl laminate) and a black baffle in a smooth satin
finish. Connections can be single or bi-wired via gold-plated binding posts. Coming soon is a matching center channel for
home theater systems.
The Hiddenite can be combined with the
35F and
35CC to have a timbre matched home theater system.
